Why the Black Experience In America For Secondary Education?
This course is a critical thinking course that examines the different experiences, perspectives, and cultures of so-called Black/African Americans from the early beginnings of America to the present day. The course examines many different aspects of Black people and will also examine the struggles as well as the triumphs of Black/African Americans through many different lenses. The course looks to dispel the myth that all Black/African Americans think the same on a variety of different topics concerning those who identify as Black/African American. “Controversial” topics are examined that are not typically discussed in a traditional school setting. Students are free to express their thoughts, and ideas based on specific facts presented throughout the course on a variety of different subjects, and their thoughts and ideas will be challenged. Critical Thinking, debate, discussion, and analysis are critical to success in this course.
